Elbe
The Elbe is one of Europe’s most important rivers, and the second largest river inside of Germany. Of its total length of 1,091 km, 940 km are navigable. The source of the Elbe lies in the Bohemian Giant Mountains (Karkonosze), from where it flows into the North Sea. Discover the Elbe in this World Heritage region by canoe, kayak or sailboat!
Enjoy an eventful cruise on the Elbe in the World Heritage region between Prettin, on the border to Saxony, and the Ronney Environmental Center, where the Saale flows into the Elbe. There are many scenic and cultural highlights on both banks of the Elbe, among them the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Lutherstadt Wittenberg, the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom, and sites in the Bauhaus town Dessau. Alternatively, you may just opt to feast your eyes on the unspoiled nature of the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve.
